A Thousand Splendid Suns

A book that displays the powerful and underlying love a mother has for her child, and the unforgettable sense of protection a father has for his daughter, Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns has left me on the edge of my seat ever since the first chapter, with scenes that seem animalistic and treacherous, and scenes that leave the heart wrenching with longing to just save a character from their misery and bring them into a said “peaceful” world, a strategy that not many books nowadays behold.

This fiction novel focuses on the story of a young woman who has lived with her mother for her whole life, wanting nothing but to feel the love and affection of her father, but can’t, due to the strict opinions of her mother, regarding that her father is a “bastard who will never love and can never love you.” After reading this book, it makes you question and realize if you are ever thankful for the blessings and love that is showered by your mother and father, as they are a balancing scale that can tip and break when the other is not present.

Unlike his other best selling pieces, A Thousand Splendid Suns has left an impact on me than no other novel has ever left, and it’s a piece that will stay with the reader’s mind until the end of time.

Let me know what your opinion is on this glorious and meaningful masterpiece.
